UK Self storage operator Attic Self Storage has completed a £250,000 refurbishment project of its facility in London, England. The work took place over a 3 month period, and involved extensive structural alterations in order to permit the replacement of the existing brick-work façade with floor to ceiling glass and external cladding.
The project has provided significant additional space to existing staff as well as providing a large, welcoming and contemporary reception space, with ample space for merchandising ancillary products. Initial feedback from both staff and clients alike has been extremely positive, and conversion rates have improved as a result.
The original reception has now been leased to a sub-tenant, and new meeting rooms have also been added to the facility broadening what is already an excellent small-business service offering that includes free Wi-Fi, mailbox rental, parcel receipt and dispatch services as well as other bespoke services.
Managing Director, Frederic de Ryckman de Betz, stated, “This refurbishment has been a long time coming. We occupy a fantastic location overlooking a main arterial route in to London, and we are finally able to leverage that location fully. The business is taken more seriously by our clientele, and staff morale has received a huge boost.”
Although currently only offering 30,000sq ft. of net lettable space, the next phase of growth is well underway which will add a further 12,000sq ft. “We are 96% occupied,” says Frederic. “The pressure on space in London is evidenced by demand, with potential sites for self-storage few and far between. This is great news for yield and occupancy, particularly when you consider the downward trend for average unit sizes.”
Established 2008 and a member of the Self-Storage Association of the United Kingdom, Attic Self Storage is an independent storage operator in central London. The team won the FEDESSA European Customer Service award in 2012, and a removals subsidiary, Attic Removals, was added in 2013.
