Guest Post: Security… Security.. Lights Camera… By Kevin Rollings

Minico2Remember… “Your on Candid Camera”… :) — well, self storage facilities that have the best security have cameras and yes, they are needed to secure the building for those thinking that they can take a look in another persons unit or even try to jump your barb wire fence to get the goods.   Maybe they watched an episode of Storage Wars and now they think there’s something valuable just laying around your units… hey, you never know!  Follow these simple rules… 1.  Manager — Asset or or NOT? 2. Where are the access points… what’s accessible and WHO can access these areas? 3.  Security locks… hey they are on all the units… there’s nothing stopping you from doing that to supply doors, your door and even your own facility — (Double Whammy) 4. Can employees change information in your computer? In the Software? Do they have limitations? codes? is it tracked? 5. Law Enforcement Your line of defense… like our Brownsburg location, we have the patrol come around the facility and in Ft. Wayne.. so people DO know that it is patrolled and that I think helps ward off some of the unruly that might try to find their way in… if they know they risk the change the Police might be cruising by that night… in Brownsburg they even have their own code to get through the gates so they can really check things out!!
