Storage Asset Management Raises Over $3000 for CharityStorage.org

In February 2013, Storage Asset Management (SAM) joined CharityStorage.org with their efforts to raise charitable funds. Storage Asset Management’s 36 storage facilities began gathering points for items to be sold at Charity Storage auctions. The funds raised are split between the ASPCA, Kure It Cancer Research and the Self Storage Association’s Foundation Scholarship program, which benefit from the special Charity Storage auctions held at facilities across the country. Year to date, SAM properties have raised $3,075.50 in charitable funds!

Storage Asset Management, Inc (SAM) is a full service self storage property management and consulting company that manages self storage properties along the East Coast. Storage Asset Management conducted a vote of its employees to decide which charity it wanted to support and settled on the ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).

“We are very excited to have the opportunity to support the ASPCA and their efforts by donating the profits made from Charity Storage auctions to them,” said Tina Krueger, Marketing Manager for SAM. “Likewise, SAM was impressed when it found out that charity auction money not only goes to the charity we choose, but also towards cancer research and the Self Storage Association Scholarship Fund!”

Charity Storage (www.charitystorage.org) was created when Lance Watkins and Barry Hoeven saw the popularity of self storage auctions grow and realized that the self storage industry could give back to society through special auctions whose proceeds go to local and national charities. The net proceeds from the sale of each unit at a Charity Storage auction are split three ways — the Self Storage Association Foundation (which provides scholarships to students who are related to self storage professionals or work at self storage facilities) receives 10 percent, Kure It Cancer Research (www.kureit.org) receives 30 percent, and the individual facility chooses a local or national charity to receive the remaining 60 percent.

For Watkins, who also founded Storage Treasures (www.storagetreasures.com) to help promote self storage auctions across the country, having the support of Storage Asset Management just adds to the amazing growth of Charity Storage in its first year. “We are making every effort to get the word out to everyone in self storage about Charity Storage and having Storage Asset Management come through in such an impressive way truly validates everything we are doing. We thank SAM for joining our effort and look forward to working with them for many years to come.”
