Moove In Self Storage Participates in Annual Adopt A Highway Cleanup

York, PA – October 25, 2022– On September 23, the Moove In Self Storage corporate office participated in the Adopt A Highway cleanup program by picking up trash and debris alongside Greenbriar Road in York, PA. The Adopt A Highway program is run through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT). PennDOT provides the safety vests, trash bags, work gloves, “Litter Crew Ahead” signs, and will pick up the bagged litter from the roadside once the cleanup is completed. The cleanup crew is expected to maintain up to 10 feet of the shoulder, if accessible.

Growing up on a dairy farm, CEO of Moove In Self Storage John Gilliland was continuously finding litter on his family’s
property, “Every spring once the fields were plowed, we would walk along the edge of the property and collect bags upon bags of trash. I definitely gained a better understanding of why it’s so important not to litter,” he said. Gilliland applied to adopt Greenbriar Road in April of 2018 and that adoption was executed the following April, with the first cleanup taking place in May 2021. The adopted roadway begins at the Moove In location at the intersection of Greenbriar Road and Canal Road, and ends at Cousler Park. Gilliland believes that this program gives his employees an opportunity to work together to give back to the York Community, “It gives all of us a sense of doing something good as a team, which contributes to our positive company culture and bolsters our strong company values,” he said. Moove In will continue to participate in the Adopt A Highway program for the foreseeable future.
